My dedication to plastic surgery continues beyond my personal practice as I have published numerous journal articles and textbook chapters, and my research has been presented at local, national, and international meetings. I have also assumed leadership roles in professional associations and organizations. Finally and most importantly, I recognize the importance of the surrounding community that supports me. Therefore, I have conducted free lectures for both medical and nonmedical groups, as well as aspiring Baltimore plastic surgeons, to help them better understand the role of a plastic and reconstructive surgeon as well as dispel many of the myths they may have heard regarding cosmetic surgery.
On a personal note, I am an artist by nature and I have displayed my work at an exhibit hosted by the St. Louis Artists’ Guild. When patients ask me why I chose to be a Baltimore plastic surgeon, I tell them that I always knew I wanted to be a surgeon, but I chose to be a plastic surgeon because of the creativity and artistry required to become one.
