Reasons for considering Thighplasty (thigh lift):

Remove excess skin of thighs
Decrease redness and irritation of thigh skin after exercise
Thighplasty (thigh lift) – General Procedure
Dr. Schreiber will fully assess your areas of concern to determine whether you need removal of excess skin or liposuction or both. In order to remove excess skin, Dr. Schreiber will make incisions in the groin area or down the inside part of the thigh for removal of larger amounts of skin. If only fat needs to be removed, Dr. Schreiber will use liposuction through very small incisions in several places of the thighs and legs.
The entire procedure is usually done on an outpatient basis, but if you combine several procedures with your thigh lift you may need to stay overnight in the hospital. The thigh lift will take approximately 1-3 hours depending on the extent of the surgery. After your thigh lift, Baltimore plasic surgeon, Dr. Schreiber, will place small drains underneath the skin to remove any excess fluid. This will help to improve healing and to prevent infection from setting in. Follow-up in the office is done one week afterward with more post-operative visits to be determined by Dr. Schreiber.

Thighplasty (thigh lift) – Recovery
Recovery from a thigh lift involves about 1 week off of work and 2 weeks from exercise. Every patient is unique and more or less time may be required for complete recovery. The bandages are removed at one week, and showering is resumed after the drains are removed. The drains are removed in the office one week after surgery. Scar therapy will then be started and Dr. Schreiber will review the details of this with you in the office.
