Baltimore Ear Surgery for Prominent Ears

Are you’re uncomfortable with the shape, positioning or protrusion of your ears?  The solution may be much less complicated than you think!

Ear surgery or Otoplasty, is a great way to reshape your ears to a more aesthetic position.  This can involve pulling back ears that are too prominent, reshaping the cartilages of the ears to look more natural, or correction of torn earlobes.

Choosing a skilled and experienced cosmetic surgeon is imperative.  Otoplasty is a procedure that requires extreme precision.  Baltimore ear surgery specialist, Dr. Jeffrey Schreiber, has been performing ear reshaping surgery for many years.  His techniques utilize incisions behind the ears keeping most of the scar hidden from view.

Benefits of Otoplasty

In addition to feeling better about your appearance, otoplasty can offer other amazing benefits:

  • Dramatic results with no visible scarring.
  • Minimal recovery period — usually 1 -2 weeks
  • Safe

Repairing Ear Lobes

Earlobes that have been stretched out by large or heavy earring and gauges can easily be repaired as well.  As your Baltimore plastic surgery expert, Dr. Schreiber has repaired these types of earlobes that have been stretched out severely.  The results can be spectacular giving the earlobe a very normal look!  This type of earlobe repair is commonly done right in the office under local anesthesia.

What to Expect During Otoplasty

The ear surgery will be scheduled in an outpatient surgical facility or in Dr. Schreiber’s office.  The procedure takes about 1-3 hours, depending upon how much sculpting is required for the ears.

Recovering from Otoplasty

The primary goal during your recovery period is to support your ears so the cartilage can strengthen. The recovery takes about 5-7 days, with light exercise resuming at 1 week.  Heavy weightlifting and intense exercise can usually resume at 4-6 weeks.  Dr. Schreiber recommends wearing a headband for the first week non-stop and only when not showering or exercising afterward for 5 weeks.
